Database Development
Almost all database development involves SQL relational databases in all of its varieties such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server 2000, Sybase, Informix and others. Developing user-friendly applications can be achieved by using the built-in developer interface (such as that provided by Oracle) or by using ODBC drivers and OLE-compliant software. Our experience has shown that both are effective depending upon client requirements such as existing staff training, cost and specific application needs.
Many IT organizations have disparate investments in hardware and software. For example, some departments have two or more database management systems. By using ODBC drivers and connection strings within a host language such as C++ or VisualBasic, the developer can effectively deal with several databases within one compiled executable. This gives great flexibility to the designer and programmer in migrating legacy systems or in developing new applications that touch more than one type of database. We have extensive experience in using ODBC drivers to develop complex systems of this type.
